DIY Home Security Tips

Use only solid metal or wood doors

Burglars find it rather easy to break through doors made of plywood or stained wood. Therefore, you should improve your home security by installing doors made from metal or solid wood at all entrances.

Install deadbolt locks

Though they are more expensive than spring latch locks, deadbolt locks are a lot more durable and therefore provide more security. So, you should include at least one-inch thick deadbolt locks to all outside doors inside your home. But when installing deadbolt locks, ensure that thers little or no space between the doors and their frames, as such areas make it effortless for intruders to induce the door apart. To decrease the space, use metal or plywood sheets to reinforce the doorway.

Screen lawn signs

Although yard signs may not stop desperate burglars from entering your home, they can deter intruders since they pass the concept that you've got a functional alarm system and also that intruders are monitored. Upon viewing yard signs, most burglars will think twice before entering your home because they will see that they might be captured.

Utilize metal bar on sliding doors

Don't depart sliding doors (or even windows) unprotected. Install metal bars behind them, since this will stop thieves from gaining entry after smashing the glass.

Install a home surveillance system

Possessing a home surveillance system which comprises both observable and hidden security cameras is another very good safety measure. While visible cameras indirectly warn intruders that you are watching every move they make, the concealed ones will be best for record burglary footage, plus they help to track intruders in scenarios when the visible cameras are ruined.
